Are You an Elite Developer?

Are you an Elite Developer?

We all go through struggles in our life but what it takes to be an elite performer in your professional or personal life? This is a question that I ask myself everyime I try to learn or develope new things to become a better person and a developer. I always wonder why I get so distracted in my life and not able to accomplish certain goals? Is this has to do with distaraction and not able to focus on one thing? or do I not have a mindset or the habits of an elite performer?

I certain agree and believe that in order to be an elite performer in any field, you must have the following:

  1. Dedication
  2. Practice
  3. Consistency
  4. Gratitued

The fuction of our brian is to give us a comfort and that could be one of the reason most of us do not want to get out of our comfort zone and try new things. We just wish that food can somehow get into our stomach and converts into an energy without taking one byte at a time. Isn't this true to learn new concepts in the programming world as well? We look at the end product or look up to someone who have accomplished so much in the field of the programing and wish that we can become that person overnight. We tend to forget that this programer became an elite programmer by putting an extra effort, got out of the comnfort zone, understrood one concept at time, and dedicated himself or herself for so long along with practice and consistency.

Nick Hays, author of "Elite: High Performance Lessons and Habits from a Former Navy SEAL" list some golden tips that anyone can follow to become an elite in their personal or professional life.

  1. You got to be committed, grow even if you are not not comfortable.
  2. You can inject passion into your routine once you find out what gives you the purpose or makes you exciting.
  3. Be aware of your fear. Is this a good fear leading you towards a good action?
  4. Break your bigger goal into smaller attainable segments.
  5. Enjoy the process as it will remove negativity or bad fear from your mind.
  6. Be thankful and it will build resilience.

In conclusion, if you want to be an elite programmer, then setup a goal, split that into a smaller attainable tasks, dedicate yourself to achieve those smaller tasks every day, practice what you have learned, be consistent and at the end be THANKFUL that you have another day to try again.
